The Institute of Ecological and Religious Studies has repeatedly informed its readers about the ornithological activities of Leonid Pokrytyuk – an experienced ornithologist, an expert of the Institute of Ecological and Religious Studies, who has been researching the avifauna of Transcarpathia for many years.
On July 7, Mr. Leonid once again surprised the audience with his ornithology in Berehovo. At this time, he demonstrated a workshop on climbing a tree. The goal of the enthusiastic scientist was to photograph a small owl comfortably settled in a tree house built for it. Children and their mothers from all over the yard gathered to listen to Mr. Leonid, and even more to look at the live little owlet and even hold it. However, in order to preserve the bird’s health, access to it was somewhat limited.
Then the ornithologist showed how to ring birds and told many interesting facts about the behavior of birds. So, for example, the adults and children learned that it’s enough to flip the owl on its back in order for some kind of anabiosis.
The event was held as part of the cooperation of the Institute of Ecological and Religious Studies – IERS (headed by Alexander Bokotey) and the German Nature Conservation Union (NABU Bundesverband NABU International ), project coordinator Ivan Tymofeiev, Nataliya Kulya (IERS).
