An ecological action was held with local children and adults on the Hazuba track with the staff of the Synevyr National Nature Park on the occasion of the World Migratory Bird Day. The purpose of the event is to interest children in observing nature, encourage them to protect the migratory birds, and take action for the protection of birds and other animals. Observing birds isn’t difficult, but it’s great and exciting. The participants proved that. Everyone actively participated doing the task – listened carefully to the sounds in the woods and carefully examined everything around in search of birds.
During the observation, we managed to hear a cuckoo and a woodpecker and to see a village martin. The children learned about other migratory birds common in our region, such as black storks, wild ducks and geese, horned owls, hoopoes, golden eagles, and others. Birds need our help. If we do not take care of them, do not take care of the places where they live, these birds may disappear from our region. Intensive farming, draining of wetlands and climate change can pose a major threat to common bird species.
The participants of the action came to the conclusion that conservation and assistance to wildlife are significant today if we want to see them in the future. Everyone can be helpful in this matter, join the conservation activities, hang an artificial feeder and feed the birds.
The event was held in cooperation with the Institute of Ecological and Religious Studies- IERS (headed by Alexander Bokotey) and the German Nature Conservation Union (#NABU), project coordinator Ivan Tymofeiev.
