On July 15th, a workshop on making nests for owls was held for children who are in the Christian summer camp. The event was conducted by Andriо Donichenko, head of the organization “Parallelnyj svit”. Owls are a genus of predatory birds that are mostly nocturnal. They have a lot of enemies including daytime birds of prey; and martens as well as terrestrial enemies, who hunt owls, get to their nests, where they often catch little owlets; and also man, who, through his imprudence and indifference, destroys a considerable part of the population of these wonderful creatures. Therefore, their protection occupies a significant place.
The participants learned to make the nests during the workshop are of great value. After all, by making them, the children could learn more about owls and contribute to the movement aimed at preserving such important and necessary creatures.
The event was held as part of the cooperation of the Institute of Ecological and Religious Studies – IERS (headed by Alexander Bokotey) and the German Nature Conservation Union (NABU Bundesverband NABU International ), project coordinator Ivan Tymofeiev, Nataliya Kulya (IERS).
